On the occasion of Antwerp Art Weekend, Moonstreet invites Drop City to take up residence, presenting the first solo show of artist Rubén Grilo in Belgium.
Drop City is an occasional public space, curatorial project and collaboration between Sam Watson and Eleanor Wright. Committed to pursuing meaningful, responsive and long-term collaborations with artists and other initiatives, Drop City was founded in 2014 as a platform for collaborative process. Taking on various models and roles—gallery, host, publisher, guest—Drop City’s responsive approach to its structure fosters the emergence of new perspectives and paradigms of cultural hospitality.
Rubén Grilo (Lugo, 1981) studied at Universidad de Barcelona and Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam. He has exhibited at CentroCentro, (Madrid), Fundació Joan Miró (Barcelona), Future Gallery (Berlin), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Künstlerhaus Haller für Kunst & Medien (Graz), Nogueras Blanchard (Madrid), Union Pacific (London), CIRCA Projects (Newcastle upon Tyne), 1646 (The Hague), Supplement (London), Wilfried Lentz (Rotterdam), CSS Bard (New York) among others.

Grilo has also created a commercial line of non-drying oil-paint called Everfresh, officially launched at the Akademie der Künste during the 9th Berlin Biennial.
